• Big city energy? Stay in Amsterdam for canals, cafés, museums, and late-night strolls.

• Slow it down. Head north of Amsterdam to soak up the charm of the countryside—think windmills, wide-open skies, and peaceful farm roads. Any cozy farmstay Airbnb will do the trick.

• Best of both worlds?Alkmaar is a lovely, medium-sized city nearby with great food, walkable streets, and easy access to everything North Holland has to offer.

TIP : Rent a car. Uber is mostly available in Amsterdam only. Take caution when driving. Dutch road rules are quite different than the US. In many cases, someone coming from your right will have the right of way!
